We had high hopes for Golden Eagles. But, alas, sometimes birding is like that! We missed them by a day or two, and on our day the migrants were sparse; in fact birds overall were quiet and hard to find.

All the same, as birders will do, we all enjoyed hanging out together, spotting whatever birds we could and learning from Andy and Tom what makes this place a good bet for seeing migrating raptors.

Bonny Scheltema of NBC News / NBC Learn was there, too. She was getting started on a project to make an educational video about Golden Eagles and had asked permission to join us so her cameraman could get some footage of young birders in action. Check out the video below and recognize some good friends (maybe even yourself!).
